The Clan System [Beta] Empty
PostSubject: The Clan System [Beta]   The Clan System [Beta] EmptyTue Sep 25, 2018 1:19 am

Introduction

Clans in TNW are a grouping of people genetically related, similarly to how they work in real life.  Different clans have different beliefs, religions, personality tendencies, origins, social structures, values, and much more - their own culture within a culture if you will.  However, in Naruto, and in TNW as well, something that is also attributed to clans are unique abilities.  These can take the form of many things, but most commonly, Hidden Techniques and Kekkei Genkai (detailed later in this guide.)  As it is easiest this way, the clan system will take the form of the clan template with the rules for each field written into said field, and any extra regulations that fit nowhere will be written beneath.  When you finish writing your clan, post a link to it in the clan requests section on discord.

Kekkei Genkai and Hidden Techniques

Kekkei Genkai are unique abilities passed down through clans and families.  In Canon, these take the forms of Sharingan, Byakugan, Shikotsumyaku (the Kaguya bone ability), and advanced elements like Lava Release and Magnet Release.  They require to be born into a clan to be able to learn, or to get a transplant of the involved organ(s) from someone who does have the Kekkei Genkai. For Sharingan, and people that have eye Kekkei Genkai (doujutsu), the eyes are required to be transplanted.  For Shikotsumyaku, the bone Kekkei Genkai, a bone or bone marrow transplant would be sufficient.  For Advanced elements, any major internal organ is required.

Hidden Techniques are techniques that have been developed and guarded by a particular clan, and taught to the trusted members.  This means that Hidden Techniques can, in theory, be taught, but most clans will not allow for a member of their clan to do so.  In most cases, banishment is the punishment, but in some, execution is the punishment.  If there are no high-ranking player characters in a clan to carry this judgment out, staff will sometimes get involved in order to make things more interesting.

Kekkei Genkai and Hidden Techniques scale from D-S like most things here at TNW.  For the purposes of this guide, from here out, Kekkei Genkai and Hidden Techniques will both be referred to as "KKG".  These scale in a character's abilities with them, not in a character's rank.  Some clans may require specific in-character objectives to increasing rank, such as trauma, but for those that do not, the training point costs are as follows:

  • D-Rank: 10 training points
  • C-Rank: 12 training points
  • B-Rank: 14 training points
  • A-Rank: 16 training points
  • S-Rank: 18 training points

The cap for the rank someone can have in a KKG is equal to +1 the character's rank.  The rank of the KKG determines the rank of techniques within the KKG that a character can learn - no higher than the rank of KKG.

Clan Jutsu

Here, use the jutsu template to apply for at least a few jutsu that the clan members will be able to perform with their KKG.  We request this because, while your KKG may seem reasonable when we read it, in the form of jutsu, it may not, and if we are forced to not allow the jutsu you have in mind, we want it to be at a stage when you can revise your clan.
